Festival season may have already started but there’s still so much to look forward to on the circuit. From food and drink to music, entertainment, and the arts, it seems there’s a festival to celebrate every occasion. But you don’t have to travel the length and breadth of the UK to enjoy the best festivals around.

Cambridge offers an excellent variety of festivals and events throughout the year. Here, we share the ultimate festival guide for people visiting Cambridge and the surrounding areas, and you’ll be pleased to know, it’s not all muddy fields and fast food…

The Big Weekend

Friday 5th – Sunday 7th July 2019

Cambridge’s best loved, free festival is back and bigger than ever! Taking place at Parker’s Piece, the event welcomes people of all ages making it a hit with locals and visitors alike. Here, Cambridge 105 Radio explains more about what to expect from this year’s Big Weekend:

“The city centre’s historic open space is transformed with an array of attractions and a stream of top artists descend on Cambridge to play alongside local talent throughout the weekend. French market, children’s entertainment area, sports zone, dance marquee. Food stalls and bar. Entertainment all weekend. Acts begin around 6.00 pm.”

International stars Dr and the Medics and Kid Creole & the Coconuts will perform on Friday night. National treasure Craig Charles will also perform a DJ set. You can view the complete line-up for each day here.

The Moët & Chandon July Festival

Thursday 11th – Saturday 13th July 2019

A world away from a traditional festival, The Moët & Chandon July Festival at Newmarket Racecourses celebrates summer at its finest. As well as being able to watch world-class horse racing, you’ll enjoy an amazing atmosphere with the English garden party theme guaranteeing plenty of style and class.

There’s a programme of great events, with festivities beginning with Ladies’ Day. Each evening ends with a DJ set; Thursday will see Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw take to the decks, Friday’s tunes will be provided by a guest DJ from Heart, and Duke will supply the summer anthems on the third and final night. Whoosh! Summer Festival

Saturday 20th July 2019

Whoosh! is the ultimate one-day festival, so it’s no wonder that early bird, VIP and group tickets for the event have already sold out. Thankfully there are still tickets available, meaning you can enjoy a fun-filled day of live and electronic music, festival food and drink, face painting and other activities, and glittering fireworks.

Cambridge Rock Festival

Thursday 25th – Sunday 28th July 2019

If rock music is your thing, you’ll want to get your tickets for Cambridge Rock Festival. The four-day event features a heady line-up of classic rock, blues and prog bands, with national, international and local acts all taking to the stage. You can even make a weekend of it thanks to the festival’s on-site camping facilities.

This is the 15th year that Cambridge Rock Festival comes to Haggis Farm Polo Club. The festival is run entirely by rock-loving volunteers, with great music and a good time guaranteed to be had by all. One-day and weekend tickets are on sale now, buy yours here.

St Mary’s Flower Festival

Friday 23rd – Monday 26th August 2019

Summer is the ideal time to appreciate all that nature has to offer and what better way to do that than by admiring the country’s best floral designs. The festival calendar doesn’t end there.
